The Fun Of Installing New Flooring

  • Written by The Bulletin

You love your older home, but it's beginning to show signs of wear and tear, particularly under your feet. Flooring and carpet take the brunt of abuse as they are, of course, the thing everybody walks on. The living room carpet has a clearly visible path through the once plush weave like those that dogs make through the grass in vacant lots, and the bathroom floor is more grime than tile. It's time you acted to keep your home clean and comfortable for years to come- renovate your floors!

When you decide the time is right, head on over to carpet suppliers in Sydney. They have a vast selection of flooring and carpeting to suit anyone's unique style, and their expert staff will take you all the way through the process, from the fun of making your choices in the showroom to the installation in your home, they have you, and your floors, covered!

Let's take a look at some of the possible materials we can use to give your home a makeover from the ground... well, to the ground!

Hardwood Flooring - The modern way to do this is to employ engineered wood flooring. This entails a thin veneer of real wood laid over and bonded to strong structural plywood. There are many species of tree that are used for this purpose, some of the favourite options include maple, oak, walnut, and ash. These floors can be sanded and refinished if ever necessary, and a well-maintained hardwood floor is able to last for decades, and even centuries to come. All that, and its naturally warm colours and beautiful grains look fantastic!

Tile Flooring - The favourite of bathrooms everywhere, this option comes in ceramic or porcelain. Ceramic is basically a mixture of sand and water, so it feels a bit softer, is semi-porous so it takes longer to dry after a good soaking, and is very cost-effective. Porcelain is produced from fine, dense clays that go through a process of being fired at high temperatures. This makes it harder, scratch resistant, waterproof, and more expensive. Tiles are available in a wide selection of colours and patterns to match and complement your chosen bathroom fixtures and paint.

Carpeting - The favourite flooring of kings and queens the world over, nothing is more comfortable on bare feet than a plush carpet, and it looks amazing, too. There are many carpet materials available now, both man-made like polyurethane, and natural like wool. Carpet is the most cost-effective flooring available, it's easy to install, comes in almost any colour or pattern you can imagine, is a breeze to maintain as it only requires an occasional visit from the vacuum cleaner, and new technologies make it highly stain resistant. All that and it feels so cosy on the toes!

The Australian government has something to say about nearly any subject, home repairs, renovations and maintenance included.

Enjoy your home's new flooring, it will look great and your feet will thank you!
